UMSH is an experimental, open LoRa mesh protocol for sending text messages without cellular service or internet access.

Why it surfaced

This is a unusually complete technology preview: it documents public-key addressing, forward secrecy, blind unicast, replay protection, flooding, and source routing, alongside supported hardware, a Rust API, a Wireshark integration, and an iOS beta. It is explicit about the tradeoff—expect breaking changes and reflashing—as it builds a more private text network from small radios.
