Canonical English is a controlled, machine-checkable subset of English for human-readable communication between people and machines.

Why it surfaced

The project combines a controlled grammar, a versioned vocabulary graph, URI-grounded proper nouns, and the noah linter, which checks whether text conforms. Its ambition is unusually explicit: not simplified English, but “a better English” with the semantic range and beauty of ordinary prose.
