Canonical English is a controlled natural language designed to make English-readable prose machine-checkable, semantically grounded, and usable by both people and software.

Why it surfaced

The project combines an English vocabulary graph, the ACE grammar, stable semantic-web URIs for proper nouns, and a linter called noah. It is an unusually ambitious attempt to make formal machine communication feel like prose rather than a reduced technical dialect.
