An archival collection of nineteenth-century newspaper notices for lost objects, preserved as original clippings with checked transcriptions.

Why it surfaced

The notices turn ordinary losses into vivid microhistory: a monkey-head scarf pin, a two-headed wolf robe, an upper set of false teeth, a manuscript map of Newfoundland, and a box of hair. Each entry preserves the exact language, reward, address, and uncertainty of the original appeal, with sources traced to the Library of Congress’s Chronicling America collection.

Thirty Patents for the Grave

August 13’s newborn domains include 30 safety-coffin patents, lost notices for false teeth and a box of hair, short films playing in 100 Tokyo taxis, and a Queensland river view arranged gauge by gauge downstream.
