An open convention that embeds a small, machine-readable context card inside PDFs and other files so AI systems can find the relevant facts without re-parsing everything.

Why it surfaced

Open Matter proposes a 1 KB `open-matter.yaml` card written during a document read, then checked against the source pages before attachment. Its live demonstration compares an eight-page supply agreement with and without the card, while the project offers a spec, Claude plugin, skills, MCP components, and a GitHub repository.

The Largest Cat Has No Number
