Reserva Las Palmas, a Cloud Forest Kept Beyond the Road
A bilingual site for a 32.6-hectare private nature reserve in San Juanito, Colombia, focused on conservation, scientific research, ecological restoration, and nature education.
Why it surfacedA couple of ecologists describe moving to San Juanito in early 2025 to create the reserve, whose mature cloud forest survived more than 60 years of cattle ranching because no road reached it. The site also highlights roughly 25 mature wax palms and invites researchers, educators, children, and local communities into the project.
