Why it surfaced

It combines NOAA, Coast Guard, USGS, and USACE data to answer maritime questions, check vessel air draft against bridges and other obstructions, and assemble local briefings. Its most useful promise is also its clearest one: when a vessel will not fit, Lir says “NO-GO” and identifies the exact span instead of guessing.
