Why it surfaced

Biwa turns a dense collection of public datasets into an exploratory map for understanding how Japanese neighborhoods may change. It also explains its provenance and limitations unusually carefully, distinguishing official GIS boundaries from estimated shapes and identifying the ministries, police departments, OpenStreetMap data, and other sources behind each layer.

The 240-Material Organ

August 16’s newborn domains include a 240-material perfume organ, a repeatedly saved JPEG cat, a ski tracker designed by a 15-year-old, and a searchable page claiming to contain 148,303 prescription records.
