A free, open-source voice, text, and screen-sharing app that friends can run on their own server.

Why it surfaced

Baucord keeps the whole setup unusually small: the client and dedicated server ship together in one zip, use roughly 30–50 MB of RAM, and require only a nickname rather than an account. Its careful details—per-user volume, adaptive jitter buffers, locked channels, global hotkeys, and support for Windows, macOS, and Linux—make this feel like a real alternative rather than a vague privacy pitch.
