Why it surfaced

Nightshift turns playlists into recurring maintenance jobs: it can keep large playlists current across several nights, write m3u8 files for media servers, integrate with beets, and share one API with native iOS and Android clients. The project is unusually candid about its limits, warning that downloads may violate platform terms or copyright law and skipping DRM-protected tracks.
