Why it surfaced

Cup & Gram does more than return a number: it identifies whether an ingredient was spoon-and-levelled, packed, or measured by the butter wrapper, then publishes the underlying density dataset under CC BY. Its example makes the problem concrete—100 grams is ⅚ cup of flour but only ½ cup of sugar.
