Alfred Gives Every Butler Its Own Machine
A local-first system for running named digital butlers, each with a defined job, email address, instructions, and repository on hardware you own.
Field notes
Alfred separates each assistant into a named unit with its own instructions, repository, email address, and machine placement. Setup involves installing Alfred on a continuously running Mac mini, Pi, or home server, then linking it with a short code. The interface also treats inbound email as a controlled channel: only authenticated domains may write, and forwarded material is stored in the butler's mail/ folder. Invitations can limit members to selected butlers and expire after seven days.
