The database supports several recovery strategies for an unknown character: readings, English meaning, radicals, component combinations, shape, stroke count, and handwriting input. Its handwriting search explicitly allows some error in stroke order and count, then returns similar candidates. The collection reports 13,108 kanji, with filters for school year, 常用漢字, 人名用漢字, and the full range of Kanji Kentei levels. Related study material includes quizzes and printable writing grids.
