HalfStep turns musicians’ practice sessions into a recording-backed progress log, moving pieces through four stages from Learning to Performing.

HalfStep organizes practice around recorded sessions rather than manually maintained profiles or timer totals. A session can include technique, scales, rhythm, sight-reading, repertoire, or improvisation, with an optional audio or video take and a click track captured in the recording. Repertoire advances through four named stages, and the Performing stage produces a single requested video. The page also describes short-lived signed links for private playback and a Front Row layer built from people following one another’s work.
