The validator examines Bates columns in file order, distinguishing gaps, duplicates, out-of-order values, and padding changes rather than silently repairing the production. Its example replay uses VOL00001, a 3,158-document federal production, and reports a simulated gap between EFTA00001042 and EFTA00001047. The page also describes checks across as many as four files from one volume, with results displayed in the browser.
