ERIC SYSTEMS: A Local Radio Home
An independent hardware project for handheld communicators, a home information terminal, and small sensors that exchange messages without Wi-Fi, cellular service, or cloud accounts.
Field notes
The proposed architecture moves household sensing and short-message handling onto a local radio network: individual battery-powered nodes report to the HST terminal, which maintains history and forwards selected events to nearby CBX handhelds. Examples include magnetic door contacts, wired refrigerator probes, low-mounted water sensors, NOAA weather alerts, and indoor-air readings. The homepage presents sample status screens and identifies the physical CBX-01 keyboard communicator and HST-01 tabletop terminal, while describing the hardware as still in active development.
