KENT-IX Wants Kent to Stop Routing Everything Through London
A community-run internet exchange in Maidstone offers local networks free 1G peering ports and a transparent route-filtering system.
Field notes
The exchange uses a shared /26 peering LAN and route server AS218849 to keep local traffic on a Maidstone fabric rather than sending it through London. Members register an as-set, after which KENT-IX expands it every fifteen minutes and validates origins against RPKI on a 120-second cycle. The page also says it publishes generated filters and live session state, allowing operators to inspect why a route was rejected instead of treating the route server as a black box.
