OpenArmor: Scan-to-Print Orthotics
An open-source project for generating custom orthotic splints, braces, and protective equipment from 3D scans or hand measurements.
Field notes
OpenArmor separates its fabrication system into a scan-driven pipeline and a measurement-driven parametric mode. The latter currently covers a finger splint: users enter measurements, orient the resulting model, slice it, and print it. The flagship pipeline instead applies a painted region to a limb scan and exports an STL, with geometry designed to prevent self-intersection. The project is licensed GPL-3.0, while the scan-to-print engine and additional splints remain under active development.
