TheGalaxyDB Renders 22.4 Million Galaxies
A queryable galaxy catalog that combines five public astronomy datasets with live browser-based visualizations.
Field notes
The database combines SDSS DR17, HyperLEDA, HECATE, PGC2003, and Mangrove into records that may include morphology, redshift, distance, stellar mass, star formation rate, and cross-references. Its GLEN renderer uses WebGL2 and GLSL shaders to map attributes such as Hubble type, inclination, bar strength, and spiral-arm winding into browser visuals. The homepage labels records as spectroscopic or photometric and describes calibrated relations for filling photometric gaps.
