An independent civic data project that collects Vermont school-budget records and models how mergers or school closures could affect local spending and home tax rates.
Field notes
The project builds a public inventory of Vermont’s education structure before attempting to make broad claims from it: 52 supervisory unions, 61 unified districts, 294 schools, and 267 towns are identified. Its what-if engine runs in the browser and exposes a calculation tree rather than only a final figure. Data coverage remains visibly incomplete—budget documents are reported for 3 of 312 district-years, while 32 of 101 legal values still await checking—so the site stops instead of silently estimating.
