Fruit Palette: A Farm Being Built in Public
A Toyohashi farm growing figs and blueberries while documenting the conversion of a former persimmon field into a future pick-your-own orchard.
Field notes
Fruit Palette is documenting the conversion of a former persimmon field of roughly 2,700 square metres into a fig-and-blueberry farm. Its cultivar guide currently names Hōraishi figs, expected from late August through October, and Banane (Ronde de Bordeaux), expected from September through October. The project says a plot-level harvest map will be updated daily once picking begins in 2027, and that cuttings or seedlings may be offered for some varieties.
