Libratory, a local PDF-to-audiobook workbench
A free, local application that turns PDF books into chapter-marked audiobooks, searchable text, translations, notes, and read-along editions.
Field notes
The demonstrated workflow separates extraction, chapter structure, transformation, narration, and assembly, allowing one chapter to be re-synthesized without rebuilding the rest. A Frankenstein example shows nine chapters across 294 pages, with word counts, durations, and per-chapter statuses in the workbench. The resulting M4B includes chapter markers and metadata, while the reader pairs audio with highlighted text from the source page. The page also exposes a JSON API and localhost-based library and reader routes.
