The client uses a map at zoom level 14 to expose nearby places and chat dots, with rooms opened by tapping a location. It stores the Nostr key and cached map material in the browser rather than maintaining a Placechat account database; the page warns that private windows can lose the key. Users can select four to eight relays and apply local proof-of-work filters, including a stated 12-bit phone baseline.
