Roost stages a function’s source, sibling modules, and arguments to a selected machine over SSH rather than shipping a serialized code object. It builds a content-addressed virtual environment with uv, reuses unchanged environments, streams process output, and stores metadata such as status, duration, host, and result in ~/.roost. The example targets fleet:jl1, completes in 6.32 seconds, and records checkpoints to a volume.
