The Sunwake Project
An open engineering repository for a 15-metre, owner-built solar-electric cruising catamaran.
Field notes
The project uses a table of hull offsets as a shared source for hydrostatics, performance calculations, drawings and the interactive explorer, with tests checking consistency between the calculation package and published figures. Its current design basis specifies a 128 kWh, 352 V battery, 15 kWp of solar and 55 nautical miles of silent range at 8 knots. The repository also preserves unresolved engineering work, including CFD or tank testing before lofting and the insurance implications of combining a wooden owner-built hull with high-voltage propulsion.
