SWEARIA Maps the Rude Side of Language
A multilingual profanity explorer where visitors can hear expressions, check their meanings and intensity, and compare how different countries swear.
Field notes
The site combines a country map with an alphabetical, keyboard-reachable list, letting visitors filter by expression, language, or country before opening an entry. Each visible record pairs the original term with pronunciation, an intensity label, audio, and a dictionary source. The current material covers six visible countries and includes both Latin-script forms such as joder and phonetic or romanized treatments such as baka [ba̠ka̠] and ssibal [ɕ͈iba̠ɭ]. Entries are explicitly awaiting native-speaker confirmation.
