A free Android and Windows prototype that lights a dot when a person’s voice rises above both room noise and a normal speaking volume.

Landing page captured for the 2026-08-30 issue.

Field notes

PDVoice Buddy compares microphone loudness against two thresholds: changing room noise and an approximately 60–70 dB speaking level. It displays only a glowing dot, with no sound, score, or notification, and says the loudness value is discarded immediately rather than recorded or transmitted. Setup begins with a five-second room measurement. The Android release is outside the Play Store, and the project is actively requesting week-long testers because noisy environments remain its least-tested case.
