Backyard Farm Network, a neighborhood farm in a box
A community farming model and app for coordinating land hosts, stewards, volunteers, learners, harvest shares, and seasonal costs.
Field notes
Each property has its own participation ladder: learners attend classes and helper days, while certified volunteers can work during host-set hours after local initiation. The described app records attendance, training, harvest shares, and seasonal contributions rather than making decisions for the group. The example pod is intentionally small—about ten regulars, or twenty on a large day—and keeps exact addresses, rosters, and hours private while exposing only an approximate public map area.
