Bureau of Chat: passports for Twitch communities
A Twitch-connected identity system turns participating chat channels into fictional countries, issuing viewers passports and stamps as they travel between them.
Field notes
The system separates three roles: Transportation registers channels and their stamps, Dispatch controls overlays and polls during a stream, and Citizenship manages a viewer’s home channel and signature. Persistent records begin with Twitch sign-in; an unauthenticated viewer can still invoke `!passport`, but the site says that visit is not retained. The passport specimen uses a VP-000000 number and includes a machine-readable-looking travel line, reinforcing the deliberately official presentation.
