The Mask & Craft Archive
An evidence-led guide to twelve masks, pairing materials, making techniques, makers, dates, and museum records.
Field notes
The project organizes twelve objects around three recurring lenses—Materials, Craft, and Context—then links each entry to a museum record and a longer story. Its method is unusually explicit: dates remain ranges or approximations, terms such as “possibly” stay attached to attributions, and visual interpretation does not substitute for catalogue evidence. The visible records include Met accession numbers and API identifiers, while the image set is identified as public-domain material from The Met Open Access programme.
