Hydrax Infrastructure, the pavement that drinks the storm
An Australian permeable-concrete system designed to move rain through pavement, store it in the aggregate base, and reduce conventional stormwater infrastructure.
Field notes
The system is organized as surface, aggregate base, and subgrade: water passes through the concrete, occupies voids between washed stone, then infiltrates or reaches an underdrain. The page’s example uses 4,000 m² of pavement, 90 mm/hr rainfall, and a 300 mm base to calculate 384,000 L of storage and 1 hour 7 minutes before the base fills. Results are labeled indicative and based on a steady-intensity balance.
