Field notes
The apparatus is a fog-fed 55-gallon drum with a rubber sheet at the rim and a six-inch opening. Operators charge it lightly, strike the roof once, and let the resulting toroidal vortex rise and decay in a few seconds. The page records a 22.5-by-33.5-inch drum, a 780-cubic-inch swept volume, and a downloadable construction plate. Its lineage runs through Jim Carter, an Enumclaw smoke-ring maker whose self-developed “circlon” theory is presented as both outsider physics and material art.
