Decadecut Reads a Garment by Its Construction
Credibility concern recorded. The source reference remains available for verification and correction.
Decadecut estimates a garment’s period from construction details such as lapels, pleats, buttons, sleeveheads, waist shaping, hems, and flies.
Field notes
The visible method turns garment dating into an interval-reading exercise rather than a single visual guess. Users are directed to photograph the full front and selected construction details, after which each identifiable feature receives its own date span on a 1900–2000 axis. The example pairs 1930s signals such as a roped sleevehead and suppressed waist with a 1965–2000 nylon zip, demonstrating how later repairs or alterations can create an explicit clash.
