Halal Scanner, for the ingredient-label moment of doubt
An iOS app scans food barcodes or ingredient lists and returns halal, mushbooh, or not-halal guidance, alongside health and allergen information.
Field notes
The app combines barcode lookup with an optical ingredient-list route for products missing from its database. Its classification model separates clear prohibitions from source-dependent cases: gelatin, E471, glycerol, and rennet are shown as doubtful when the label cannot settle their origin, while pork derivatives and ethanol listed as an ingredient are treated differently. The homepage also describes a saved scan history, nine interface languages, and optional diabetic-suitability guidance.
