ReadTune, a reading setup that earns its settings
A free, local-first reading companion that tests fonts, spacing, focus modes, and read-aloud settings across web pages and PDFs.
Field notes
ReadTune uses a four-minute calibration built from six short passages, testing one change at a time while combining reading time, comprehension, and an ease rating. Its profile can adjust fonts such as Atkinson Hyperlegible, OpenDyslexic, and Lexend, alongside spacing, line width, contrast, and one-, three-, or five-line focus modes. The page also describes sentence-and-word highlighting for on-device read-aloud, with profiles and history retained in browser storage rather than an account.
