Far Voices: Deep-Space Choir
An interactive sound-and-data artwork turns NASA's Deep Space Network telemetry into Orthodox choral harmony.
Field notes
Far Voices maps network conditions onto a constrained musical system rather than composing freely: telemetry can reorder chords from the selected source corpus but cannot introduce unsupported harmony. The page identifies 941 chords from Lyadov's Op. 61 and 6,231 from Arkhangelsky volume 1, and describes 2,788 recorded traffic frames as a fallback when the live feed is unreachable. Its interface exposes link status, signal, downlinks, chord, mode, and UTC information alongside the music.
