Kala — Cloth Made of Time
A curated, made-to-order cloth marketplace connecting European buyers with handweavers and natural-dye artisans in Thailand and Myanmar.
Field notes
Kala structures the project around a visible sequence from vat to dye house to loom to finished cloth, rather than presenting textiles as anonymous inventory. Its maker entries name locations and techniques, including Mo The Po’s backstrap and frame loom work and KwangSai’s hand-drawn batik. Three planned pieces carry estimated labor times of 42, 58, and 76 hours, while the homepage says a Myanmar maker and further pieces are still to come.
