ShipsHappen — a route-shading prototype for boats
A browser-based navigation-safety prototype that shades a ship’s remaining route and triggers an alert when it enters a defined radius.
Field notes
The prototype combines manually entered latitude, longitude, and true heading with draggable ship and user markers, then recalculates the route display and geofence in the browser. Its alert boundary uses a 1.25-nautical-mile destination radius plus a corridor extending 200 meters from the shore, while charted reach boundaries come from ENC data. The page currently identifies the destination as KM-4 via Myers Bend and notes that the WDO polygon is not yet loaded.
