OpenVFR: Flight Planning Without the Subscription
An open-source electronic flight bag for VFR pilots, combining airspace maps, terrain profiles, aerodromes, obstacles, and navigation data.
Field notes
OpenVFR describes a progressive web app that layers controlled airspace, TMAs, CTRs, restricted areas, aerodromes, navaids, obstacles, and visual landmarks onto an aviation map. A planned altitude slider filters airspace by ceiling, while a vertical profile is intended to place terrain, minimum safe altitude, airspace bands, and the projected route together. The rollout begins with Sweden, followed by Norway, Denmark, and Finland; Android and iOS versions are listed as later phases.
