R-EAL Wants a Portable Verdict on What Counts as Real

r-eal.org Observed source
Editorial interest 84/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

An open standard for evaluating the credibility of online content through reader judgments rather than platform or machine verdicts.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-04 issue.

Field notes

R-EAL separates provenance from credibility: knowing where a file came from does not, by itself, answer whether it should be believed. Its proposed verdict is judged against four properties—agreement-weighted evaluation, resistance to coordinated manipulation, reproducibility, and reader legibility. The site exposes implementation material rather than only describing the idea, including spec.json and spec.txt, a validator script, example credentials, and deliberately invalid test vectors. Adoption and performance beyond the published materials are not established by the page.
