Shark Incidents Maps the Record, Not the Fear
A global database of reported shark-human incidents, with an interactive map, historical records, source statuses, and filters for place, year, species, and activity.
Field notes
Records can be browsed through geographic, chronological, species, and activity views, then opened as individual incident pages with source and verification details. The map distinguishes representative or approximate positions from source-supported exact locations, and five records currently remain unmapped rather than receiving invented coordinates. The archive also separates recent reports from older incidents reconstructed from source material, preserving the difference between an event date and the date its record was restored.
