Trynta, the password manager with no server to breach

trynta.dev Observed source
Editorial interest 84/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

An open-source, local-first desktop password manager that keeps its vault on one file and derives its encryption key on the user’s machine.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-04 issue.

Field notes

The vault is represented as a single encrypted SQLite file, with each secret field sealed separately and keys derived through Argon2id. The page also documents implementation boundaries that are easy to omit from security marketing: the Argon2 working buffer cannot be fully protected from hibernation dumps, and breach checking sends a padded five-character SHA-1 prefix rather than the password. The current release is 0.1.0 for Windows, with macOS identified as a future platform.
