Derivative Calculator That Shows Its Work
A browser-based calculator differentiates typed functions, displays each rule in sequence, simplifies the result, and plots the original and derivative curves.
Field notes
Expressions are parsed into an operation tree before the engine applies one differentiation rule per node and records the working. The page accepts notation ranging from implicit multiplication and square roots to logarithms with arbitrary bases, inverse trigonometric functions, and Greek variables. Its graph samples both curves in the browser, leaves poles as gaps rather than joining them, and exposes pan, zoom, tangent-point, and image-save controls.
