A free browser map shows lightning strikes seconds after they happen, centered on your location.

Field notes

Downstrike uses Blitzortung.org volunteer radio detection data to plot strikes and gives each one a visual age cue, changing from white to ember-red as it cools. Its central interaction is a sound ring that expands from the strike at the stated speed of sound; the page also offers a storm-jump control for finding the most active storm on Earth. An iPhone TestFlight beta is presented separately for U.S. warnings and short-range rain timing.
