MapleCheck puts corporate ownership beside the shopping experience

MapleCheck’s public directory reports 269 researched companies, divided into 140 Canadian-owned, 86 US-owned, and 14 flagged for further review. The proposed browser workflow uses a small badge on researched retailer pages, opening details about ownership, location, and possible Canadian alternatives. The project says it relies on corporate filings and acquisition records rather than brand names or flags, and explicitly identifies itself as community-researched rather than a government service.
