NoHumanWrites: The Gutter Is the Product
A technical essay proposes measuring which code and prose passed through an agent pipeline rather than trying to detect whether a machine wrote them.
Field notes
The project defines an “unattested” span as one lacking a record from the agent pipeline, without claiming that the span is therefore human-written. Its proposed remedy is a signed, append-only ledger covering prompts, diffs, logs, and test runs, checked at review time. The reported gap is unusually concrete: agent-written files inside the logged harness reached a 100% median line-attestation rate, while the project’s own source, sent through an unlogged shell channel, reached 9%.
