slateoutliner.com Observed source
Editorial interest 84/100 Selection signal · not a rating of the site

A markdown-first notes and outlining app for Linux and macOS, with optional task and journal modules plus encrypted device sync.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-05 issue.

Field notes

Slate’s storage model keeps pages as markdown files on disk, while allowing each page to switch between a bullet-outline view and an ordinary document view. Checkboxes can acquire dates or repetition and appear in a separate Tasks agenda beside an optional Journal module. The site also describes local version history, compatibility with Obsidian and vim, and encrypted-before-transmission sync through either its relay or one the user hosts.
