Glassine, a Markdown editor that gets out of the way

A quiet macOS writing app for plain-text Markdown files, with translucent glass, typewriter scrolling, live previews, and autosave.

Landing page captured for the 2026-09-06 issue.

Field notes

Glassine works with ordinary Markdown files and folders in iCloud Drive rather than placing documents in a proprietary workspace. Its interaction model is unusually explicit: a half-second autosave pause, six render styles, nine built-in themes, eight caret configurations, slash commands, and a card-based library are all documented. The page says the app has no accounts, analytics, or servers. At present, source installation is the clearest stated route; the App Store listing remains in review and the notarized DMG is planned for GitHub Releases.
