The project separates several relationships that are often collapsed into the word “alignment.” Its examples include systems coordinating without sharing goals, sharing goals without acting together, or remaining steerable without sharing values. The homepage also points to an essay called “Nine Ways to Align a System” and an Alignment Atlas intended to map the dynamics that produce alignment and the conditions under which different forms come apart.
