Raindex Measures Rainfall by the Kilometre
An iPhone rainfall tracker that estimates what fell at a saved US location using NOAA radar and gauge data on a 1 km grid.
Field notes
The service assigns rainfall to the 1 km cell containing a saved location instead of using a town-wide average. Its source is NOAA’s Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor system, with gauge adjustment arriving about 97 minutes behind real time. The page describes a day-by-day record that begins when a place is added and preserves missing readings as missing rather than converting them to zero. Each reading carries a status such as gauge-adjusted, radar-only, or provisional.
